Four Steps to Boost your Well-being with Mindfulness

1. Pause.

Focus your attention on your breathing. Feel your chest rise and fall. Notice any sensations in different parts of your body as you breathe. Your breath is an anchor to ground you in the present moment. Being present helps you find a place of calm clarity, allowing thoughts or feelings to come and go without getting caught up in them.

2. Practice.

If you’re overthinking, practice grounding yourself to clear these thoughts and return to the present. Your body’s senses help focus your awareness. Start with three things you can see, hear touch or smell and fully direct your attention on these. The things don’t matter. Practicing your awareness of the present is what’s important.

3. Seek awareness.

Mindfulness means maintaining regular awareness of your thoughts. In this headspace you can let go of feelings of self-judgement, planning the future or thinking about the past. You are free to connect with your life now, to learn, love, create and use the focus you find in the present moment.

4. Enjoy being.

Mindfulness is more than a technique, it’s a way of being. Being balanced with the challenges of life, being aware of your thoughts and relationship with the world. You have a natural capacity for being aware. Growing this capacity will bring positive benefits like greater self-compassion, more space to enjoy life and improved wellbeing.
