Power of Positive Affirmation

How to overwrite deeply rooted limiting beliefs with new empowering ones.

Affirmations are inspirational words or messages that help us to feel empowered and challenge negative thought patterns.

We often tell ourselves we are not good enough or worthy of something, or that someone is better than we are, this can damage our self-esteem and wellbeing. Through regular reading or hearing positive affirmations, we change those negative thought patterns into more positive ones. Affirmations can help overwrite deeply rooted limiting beliefs with new empowering thoughts.

You can feel the power of positive affirmations by placing cards or post-it notes around your home with positive messages on (you can buy affirmation cards or write them yourself, using words like ‘I am loved, I am worthy, I am beautiful, I am in control, I have loyal friends, I am grateful’). Place these cards by your bed, your mirror, kitchen, or anywhere you will notice them regularly. Read them and say the affirmation internally to yourself or out loud if you like. You can even try looking at yourself in the mirror whilst you say them to yourself.

Just like training your body in the gym to maintain a healthy weight, or building your muscles using weights, using affirmations in this way is effectively training your brain, you are rewiring it to think in a more positive light about yourself and the world.
